Falsifiability
Karl Popper argued that a theory is scientific only if it can be proven wrong. "All swans are white" is a good scientific claim because one black swan would end it. A claim that no result could ever contradict, such as one that bends to fit every outcome, tells us nothing about the world. This is why scientists look for tests that could break their ideas, not just examples that agree with them.
